Master of Science (Medical Microbiology)

M.B.B.S., B.D.S., B.Sc. (Biotechnology), B.V.Sc.&AH, B.P.T./B.O.T /B.A.S.L.P., B.Pharma. B.Sc. (Bio), BHMS, BAMS, B.Sc. (Medical), B.Sc. (Home Sci.) will be eligible for M.Sc. (Med.) Microbiology.
The candidate must have secured 55% marks in last qualifying examination.

The postgraduates in M.Sc. (Medical Microbiology) passing out of United University, Prayagraj should be –

• Thorough in theoretical understanding of Medical microbiology, which covers the transmission of disease-causing microorganisms, diagnosis, and/or treatment of pathogens
• Competent medical facilitators with basic competence in teaching the undergraduate medical and paramedical professional courses’ students.
• Well versed with principles of research methodology .
• Able to apply the acquired knowledge and skill to advance medical education

At the end of the course in Master of Science in Medical Microbiology the student should be able to.-

• Acquirement of Knowledge - The programme will provide comprehensive knowledge about pathogenic microorganisms, their diseases, diagnosis, treatment methods and more.
• Building of Skills -The students will be able to build the skills that are required to diagnose and treat diseases caused by bacteria, parasites and fungi.
• Research - During the programme, the students will learn how to demonstrate their research skills, experiment and analyze the result along with critically assessing research literature.

• Interactive lectures /Practical sessions:- which will include SGD (small group discussions), PBL (problem based learning), SDL (self directed learning)
• Attitude, Ethics and Communication (AETCOM) Skills: - journal club, seminars, modules.
• Teaching assignments: - Taking U.G classes, demonstrations & practicals for two semester.
• Hands on experience: in using various of A .V aids for teaching. Preparation of power point presentation according to standard norms.
• Participation in conferences, symposium, seminars & workshops
• Statistics:- Elementary knowledge of medical statistics.
• Research: - demonstrate research skills, including designing experiments, analysing results and troubleshooting and critically assessing the scientific literature.
• Hand on experience:- Bacteriology,virology,serology,Parasitology,Mycology ,Immunology,Mycobacteriology ,HIC,Molecular.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the laboratory diagnosis of microbial diseases and practical skills.
• Distinguish between and critically assess the classical and modern approaches to the development of therapeutic agents and vaccines for the prevention of human microbial diseases.
