From the desk of Principal - Medical

Dr (Brig) Ganesh Chandra Satapathy is an alumnus of MKCG Medical College, Berhampur (Odisha). He passed MBBS in 1985 and joined Armed Forces Medical Services .He did MD (Anaesthesiology) from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (Maharashtra) and superspecialisation in Neuro-Anaesthesiology from AIIMS, New Delhi. He has served in various neuro-centres of Armed Forces hospitals and as Professor of Anaesthesia for last 22 years. He has many publications in various national and International journals.

He is a MD and Diplomate of National Board (DNB) examiner and MCI accessor too. For his outstanding contribution in healthcare of serving soldiers at Srinagar (J&K), he was awarded Vishisht Seva Medal by hon’ble President of India. In addition, he has been awarded various commendations from Army, CRPF, BSF and J&K police for his exemplary service.

With a distinguished career in teaching, clinical practice, and institutional leadership, he has contributed significantly to strengthening academic standards, clinical governance, and medical training. After 35 years of colourful service in Armed Forces, he retired as Brigadier and joined Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) as Professor and Head, Department of Anaesthesiology. Presently, working as the Principal, United Institute of Medical Sciences, Prayagraj (U.P.) with effect from 04 Aug 2025.
